I must say, those are mighty fine necklaces you got there. If I weren’t so afraid of getting decapitated by them, I’d totally wear such gear.

Oh, and hi from ‘wanderingpanda’. 🙂

sometimes i feel like i’m on the wrong side of the looking glass. ever since the accident, i’ve had to actually become an adult, quite abruptly, and this new world is not looking promising. i want to go back to my happy pre-looking glass life.

crafting therapy

June 17, 2006 at 9:33 pm (Uncategorized)

so after a week in which nearly all the guys in my life made me cry, including my boss who told me that my research was worthless and that i was a waste of resources, i really, really needed a day to splurge on crafting supplies and just create my little heart out. we all know my favorite thing is making stuff for people, so the fact that tomorrow is my friend summer’s birthday could not have come at a better time. check out the awesome crafty goodness!

i filled a cigar box with goodies for her- and i got to try decoupaging the box (a fancy to way to say paper mache for grownups)- which worked really well! the box looks very professional! i used printouts of vintage posters on the outside, then a pic of us and some paris pictures on the inside (she’s going to paris next year). i lined the inside with fluffy purple fabric, way to girly for my taste but truly summer’s taste.

another new technique i picked up is wire working- which i used to make her a necklace and two pairs of matchin earrings….

and i included the ever awesome marble magnets- weeeee! i want to make these for everyone on the planet….

i also included a little thing of pumkin spice fragrance (an inside joke we have) and a gift certificate for the bookstore. ah…i love planning and creating the perfect present!

watch out, watch out, eveee and laura-california! i have plans for you both…

bravery

i knitted in public today, for the first time. i’ve discovered what a wonderful combination of listening to music while knitting in the laundrymat is. and i didn’t get any weird looks, which i was totally expecting. i am almost done with a belt, my very first knitted project- horray! like i needed another hobby…

speaking of hobbies, they eat up all my money! now i have two friends’ birthdays, father’s day, and two family members’ birthdays to get presents ready for. hm, i have to start doing some serious craft brainstorming…..

family of four

well, really five, if you count the fish….

we recently were adopted by a neighborhood kitten- horray! meet moon, the little kitten that literally showed up on my doorstep saturady afternoon. she and clio don’t really get along, but we’re hoping that’s just temporary. i think they are starting to play, but don’t really understand what the other is doing so they still hiss at each other.

p.s.- those are justin’s boxers- he doesn’t know i’ve posted this- hahaha! so cute…

the cake returns

i could have sworn that somewhere on this blog i talked about our you-don’t-suck cake…well, anyway, poor laura r has been having a super awful week (advisor leaving, car smashed in parking lot, etc) so based on the original cake we had to celebrate the ending of biogeochem, i made a felt cake for her!
